——— SCHOOL CLOSING INFORMATION ———
2009 - 2010
- Whenever possible, bus drivers are asked to notify the transportation director of present or potential hazardous road conditions.
- Parents, principals, teachers, highway personnel, town chairmen, county and local police are urged to notify the transportation director when serious road conditions are building up in a particular area.
- The transportation director will combine all reports, make an evaluation on how the buses should operate, and then make a recommendation to the district administrator or director of business services. A decision will then be made on the proper procedure for bus operation.
- The director of transportation will notify drivers by telephone, the two-way radio system, or Radio Station WRDB of the procedure to be followed. Drivers who cannot start their route at the announced time are to call the transportation director at once.
- We will endeavor to pick up every child on passable roads each day that school is in session. When the bus is unable to pick up a student, that student will not be counted absent or tardy.
- If a school delay or cancellation must be made, we will do this as close to 6 a.m. as possible. The transportation director will be at the bus garage by 5:30 a.m. on mornings when the roads are hazardous. He would like your calls before 6 a.m. His phone number is 524-6529.
- If the weather is inclement, bus drivers, parents, students, teachers and other school personnel are urged to listen to radio stations WRDB (1400 AM, 104.9 FM), WRPQ (740 AM), WNNO (900 AM, 107 FM), WRJC (1270 AM, 92.1 FM), WTSO (1070 AM, 104.1 FM), WOLX (94.9 FM), or TV stations WISC-TV-Channel 3, WMTV-Channel 15, or WKOWTV-Channel 27 for an announcement concerning the operation of buses and schools.
- The district administrator will notify radio and TV stations of the procedure that will be followed.
- Parents of morning Early Childhood children are especially urged to listen to the radio on stormy days, as those children may be brought home on regular bus runs if other children need to be brought home during the noon hours.
- If early school dismissal is deemed appropriate, the earliest bus departure time will be approximately 12:30 p.m. Bus drivers are urged to listen to WRDB, WRPQ, WNNO, WRJC, WTSO, WOLX, WISC-TV, WMTV or WKOW TV for announcements concerning revised bus departure times.
