Assessments are used to monitor student progress. Teachers provide various classroom experiences to help students practice the skills they need to learn and apply their knowledge, which demonstrates understanding. There are a variety of district-wide assessments used to monitor the progress of individual students, track student growth and evaluate the success of our district schools.
The state requires some assessments, and others are part of district efforts to monitor and evaluate progress. In all cases, assessment results are used by teachers, as well as school and district leaders, to ensure continuous improvement. Individual student needs are recognized and evaluated. Student growth is compared to expected growth, and districtwide growth is measured to evaluate successes and plan for the future.
