What is the Forward Exam 3-8?
The Forward Exam 3-8 is a state-mandated assessment. This custom assessment is administered in English language arts and mathematics in grades 3 through 8, and in science in grades 4 and 8.
Wisconsin students take the Forward Exam 3-8 in the spring of the school year. This assessment is used to gauge how well students are mastering the Wisconsin College and Career Ready Standards in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science (grades 4 & 8 only). Students take the Forward Exam 3-8 online.
Accommodations and supports for students with disabilities and/or English language learners are built into the system so that the progress of students can be accurately measured.
More information regarding these exams can be found in the DPI Forward Exam brochures, available in both English and Español.
