TESTING INFORMATION
- Anyone 1 years and older may be tested at Free Community Testing Sites.
- The tests that the Community Testing Sites conduct are Molecular Tests (aka PCR Tests) to detect active infection of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
- These tests are not antibody tests and will not tell you if you have previously had COVID and have now recovered.
- We recommend testing for:
- People with COVID-19 Symptoms
- People who have had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19
- People who have regular exposure to many people (such as people who work in grocery stores, restaurants)
- If you are getting tested because you are concerned that you may have been exposed, please wait 6-7 days after the possible exposure to get tested, unless you are experiencing symptoms.
- We do not recommend testing for:
- People who plan to attend a gathering and "want to make sure they're ok."
- Testing only tells you if you had COVID on the day you were tested. A negative test does not necessarily mean it is safe to gather with others. Remember it can take up to 14 days after exposure to develop symptoms-so you could be infectious a few days after a negative test. The best way to reduce the risk of getting and spreading COVID-19 is to avoid gathering with people you do not live with.
- People who want to get tested regularly for "peace of mind."
- Tests are in limited supply. We need to save our testing resources for symptomatic people, those who have been in close contact with confirmed cases, those who are regularly exposed to many people, and those who work with high-risk populations.

Dear Parent/Guardian:
**If you have been previously notified that your child is a close contact with a positive case, this message does not alter their quarantine date.**
We have recently been notified that a student or an employee at your child’s school has recently tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. This virus is transmitted through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Persons within six feet for more than 15 minutes are considered Close Contacts and are at increased risk of developing this infection. A person who is a Close Contact with someone during their potential infectious period is required to self-quarantine for at least 14-days after the most recent contact.
You are receiving this letter because your child has shared a classroom or other gathering space with the tested individual, but did NOT meet the criteria of a Close Contact and is NOT required to self-quarantine.
Although we must protect the privacy of the person involved, the health and safety of our staff and students is a top priority. We are providing you with the following information to help you make a well-informed decision for your family:
School Name: PRAIRIE RIDGE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
Date of last attendance of diagnosed individual: OCTOBER 23, 2020
We have implemented the CDC recommended protocols for positive cases in schools. Sauk County Public Health along with the School District of Reedsburg has been in contact with the positive individual. The positive individual and any close contacts are in home-quarantine and will only be allowed to return once they have met the State of Wisconsin release criteria.
As mentioned above, your child has NOT been identified as being at significant risk of exposure and may continue to attend school in-person. However, we respect your decision if you do not feel comfortable sending your child back to school for in-person learning at this time.
If your child exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you keep him/her home and seek the advice of your medical provider immediately. Some symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, new cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, headache, fatigue, muscle aches, or loss of taste or smell. Symptoms typically start to appear 2-14 days after exposure. If your child doesn't have symptoms and you want them tested, you can access testing through Sauk County FREE COVID-19 test sites.
Please contact us if you decide to keep your student at home, and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Tom Benson

Good Evening Families:
The School District of Reedsburg has created a COVID-19 Data Dashboard to provide our families with information on the state of the COVID-19 virus in our district and how this data impacts decision-making for classroom/school closures. Please visit our district website to view the dashboard.
The district will update the number of confirmed cases, recovered cases, and active cases in the district, as well as the number of students and staff who are currently absent from school with COVID-like symptoms or quarantined due to possible exposure. This information will be updated weekly on Mondays unless there is a drastic change in which case the district will notify families via a Skylert message.
Since the beginning of the school year, the district has implemented the CDC recommended protocols for positive COVID-19 cases in schools. Our school district nursing staff are working in collaboration with the Sauk County Health Department when a positive case of COVID-19 occurs within our district.
