The School District of Reedsburg has three School Nurses who work closely with students and staff at each of our five schools. Our School Nurses provide a specialized area of nursing that supports acute and chronic health conditions, and promotes overall wellbeing. The intention is to provide student and family centered care so that each student can achieve academic success.
Some of the services that our School Nurses provide include:
- Creating, updating, and maintaining individual health plans
- Vision, hearing, and blood pressure screenings
- Health education for students and staff
- Providing emergency medication training for staff
- Overseeing medication administration and other health care procedures by school staff *Participation in school district committees and advisory groups
- Development of nursing and health-related policies and procedures
- Participation in IEP, 504, CCS, Pupil Services, and other medical and health-related meetings *Enforcing student immunization compliance based on state law requirements
- Providing student and staff information regarding communicable diseases
- Collaborating with hospitals, clinics, and other community agencies
