We believe in sustaining student learning throughout the year, so students don't lose educational growth during the summer. Studies since the 1970s have pointed to reading as one way to stem summer learning losses. In addition to summer reading, we believe summer math work is also important in the battle to keep children learning at their maximum achievement levels. Starting in first grade, math knowledge will be applied to everyday experiences as students discover math in everything they do.

RAHS Junior Players is a summer school opportunity for middle schoolers that provides them with the experience of learning and performing a full production of a middle school-level musical. Students work with staff and directors to learn all about the different aspects of live theater, including acting, singing, dancing, and technical work. These skills are developed through rehearsals of the selected musical of the summer, culminating in 4 performances of the show in the CAL Center. We accept all middle school-aged students, including those entering 6th and 9th grade in the fall. High schoolers are also encouraged to volunteer as staff members, and can earn community service hours for doing so.
This summer's musical will be Willy Wonka Jr. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, June 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the CAL Center. Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, June 11, and will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the CAL Center. Rehearsal Dates:

Students entering fifth or sixth grade in the fall may participate in Pineview’s Summer Garden School program. This program is designed to teach students the skills and principles of gardening through hands-on experiences and discovery, along with applying reading, writing, math, and communication skills. Students are also encouraged to apply these skills to their own home gardens as much as possible. There is a fee of $25 which covers the cost of a t-shirt and materials for class and snack.
Because space is limited, all that apply may not be able to participate. You will receive a notice of confirmation or an apology notice and refund before the end of the school year. Additionally, students are held to a high code of conduct. Any actions that are unsafe or frequent absences could result in the removal from Garden School.
