The goal of the School District of Reedsburg Gifted and Talented Program is to provide systematic and continuous programming for students identified as gifted and talented in one or more of the five areas of giftedness, as defined by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. These areas include:
- Academic (Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies or Language Arts)
- Leadership
- Creativity
- Visual Arts
- Performing Arts
The leaders of the School District of Reedsburg believe it is important to challenge our gifted and talented students through differentiation of the curriculum within the regular education classroom. We recognize that students need opportunities to pursue advanced learning goals.
Our program primarily serves students in grades three to 12, and we serve our students through a variety of opportunities and settings. Extended learning opportunities include:
- Young Authors Conference
- Spelling Bee
- Math 24
- Creative Arts Festival
- Student Senate
- College for Kids
- Science Fair
- Leadership Conference
- Solo Ensemble
- Mock Trial
We offer subject and grade acceleration. Students also may take online classes through the Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth. In addition, we offer small group enrichment including Mystery Box and Geocaching.
