Open Enrollment is a Wisconsin program that allows parents to apply for their children to attend a school district other than the one they live in.
Who may participate?
Students from 5-year-old kindergarten to grade 12 may apply. Open enrollment for early childhood and 4-year-old kindergarten is limited. Parents should call their district of residence to find out if their preschool-aged children qualify for open enrollment.
How and when may parents apply?
The 2025-2026 school year's application period is February 3 to April 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
Click here to apply online (the preferred method of applying). The link will be deactivated on April 30 at 4:00 p.m. by DPI.
NOTE: If you currently have a student attending school in the School District of Reedsburg through open enrollment, you DO NOT need to re-apply.
What if I'm new to the area or missed the deadline? Can I still apply for open enrollment?
Yes, you can. Open enrollment alternative forms for 2025-2026 will be available beginning July 1. Please download and complete the application and return it to the Central Office at 501 K Street, Reedsburg, after July 1.
Please contact the district office at (608) 524-2016, Ext. 2030, for assistance.
How do I know whether my student is accepted or denied?
Acceptance and denial letters are mailed the first week in June. If a student is accepted, parents/guardians must contact the district to confirm the placement.
Who is responsible for transportation?
Parents who have open-enrolled their children in another district are responsible for transporting their children to and from school. If transportation is required for a child with a disability in the individualized education program, the nonresident district must provide transportation.
Why Reedsburg?
The School District of Reedsburg is located in the beautiful rolling hills of Sauk County, WI, approximately 60 miles northwest of Madison, and is the fastest-growing community in Sauk County. Student success is at the heart of everything we do. Multiple generations of families have raised children in Reedsburg and attend our district schools. Reedsburg is a tight-knit community of people who genuinely care about students' success. Our state-of-the-art communication, arts, and learning center, as well as our extensive list of activities and athletics, mean students have many opportunities in the School District of Reedsburg. From four-year-old kindergarten through high school, we're preparing each and every student for the future by striving for excellence.
In November 2024, our community passed a $14 million referendum for capital improvements to the high school in two phases. The first (2025), will renovate the library, large group room, and two adjacent classrooms to create the new Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship; and lightly renovate the commons area with an add school store in the space. The second phase (2026), is for improvements to our High School Construction Trades, Manufacturing and Engineering, and Agriculture spaces; and a new greenhouse and provide space for new and innovative programs in Agriculture, Animal Science, and Natural Resources.
Inspiring Creativity, Innovation, and a Desire to Achieve Greatness!
