Open Enrollment is a Wisconsin program that allows parents to apply for their children to attend a school district other than the one they live in.
Who may participate?
Students from 5-year-old kindergarten to grade 12 may apply. Open enrollment for early childhood and 4-year-old kindergarten is limited. Parents should call their district of residence to find out if their preschool-aged children qualify for open enrollment.
How and when may parents apply?
The 2024-2025 school year's application period is February 5-April 30, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
Click here to apply online (the preferred method of applying). The link will be deactivated on April 30 at 4:00 p.m. by DPI.
NOTE: If you currently have a student attending school in the School District of Reedsburg through open enrollment, you DO NOT need to re-apply.
What if I'm new to the area or missed the deadline? Can I still apply for open enrollment?
Yes, you can. Open enrollment alternative forms for 2024-2025 will be available beginning July 1. Please download and complete the application and return it to the Central Office at 501 K Street, Reedsburg, after July 1.
Please contact the district office at (608) 524-2016, Ext. 2030, for assistance.
How do I know whether my student is accepted or denied?
Acceptance and denial letters are mailed the first week in June. If a student is accepted, parents/guardians must contact the district to confirm the placement.
Who is responsible for transportation?
Parents who have open-enrolled their children in another district are responsible for transporting their children to and from school. If transportation is required for a child with a disability in the individualized education program, the nonresident district must provide transportation.
