Eligibility Requirements
For WRS-participating employees prior to July 1, 2011:
To qualify for participation in the WRS, employees covered under the WRS prior to July 1, 2011, must meet both of the following eligibility criteria:
- Employee is expected to work at least one-third of what is considered full-time employment, defined as 440 hours for teachers and school district educational support personnel, and
- Employee is expected to be employed for at least one year (365 consecutive days, 366 in a leap year) from his or her date of hire.
For WRS-participating employees on or after July 1, 2011:
- Employee is expected to work at least two-thirds of what is considered full-time employment, defined as 880 hours for teachers and school district educational support personnel, and
- Employee is expected to be employed for at least one year (365 consecutive days, 366 in a leap year) from his or her date of hire.
Benefit Information
2022 Contribution Rates - 13 percent of gross wages
Consisting of:
- 6.5 percent School District of Reedsburg
- 6.5 percent employee contribution
Employee contributions are "pre-tax," meaning the deductions reduce your taxable income while employed. Once the employee receives an annuity, the funds will be taxable. Current law prohibits employees from opting out of enrollment unless receiving an annuity or a recently processed separation benefit.
