Coming Home March 4
Last Updated February 18, 2021 - It doesn't seem possible, but we are nearly two-thirds of the way through the school year! The second trimester will end on Friday, February 26. Report cards will be sent home with students on Thursday, March 4.
THREE WAYS YOU CAN HELP YOUR CHILD AT REPORT CARD TIME
- PREPARATION – Talk with your child. Ask, “What do you think your report card will tell us?”
Then let your child tell you if he or she expects any problems. Even if your child does well in school, he/she may be nervous about a certain grade. Getting ready is helpful.
- PERSPECTIVE – A report card is just one small measure of your child. There have been other report cards in the past. There will be more in the future. A child who gets all “A”s still has plenty to learn. And a child with below-average grades still has plenty of strengths.
- POSITIVE ACTION – Think of the report card as a chance to take positive action. Find something to praise-attendance, attitude, improvement, etc. Then focus on areas that can lead to improvement. Ask how you can help.
You may want to set a regular time each day to review spelling words, or you may agree to turn off the TV during study hours. You may decide to schedule a conference with a teacher.
Please understand that a report card is a picture of your child at school. It is a whole different world from the one at home. Not every child is a straight “A” student. Your child’s teacher knows your child at school. You know your child at home—the “real child” maybe somewhere in between. Report card time offers an excellent opportunity to blend those two images in understanding and acceptance, a time for both you and your child to learn together.

Thank you for taking part in this event and for supporting our school!
Mrs. Lichte
My name is Gail Lichte, and I have been teaching kindergarten in the School District of Reedsburg for 23 years. I enjoy helping my kindergartners become independent learners who are not afraid to make mistakes. When we make mistakes, we learn and grow.
I grew up on a dairy farm near Stockbridge, Wisconsin. I live in Baraboo with my husband, Dan, and our two children, Rachel (19) and Jack (16). I also have two cats, Luna and Lucy. I am crazy about cats!

The School District of Reedsburg will hold virtual learning on days that would otherwise be lost to school closure (ie. inclement weather), which should eliminate the need to make up lost instructional hours later in the school year. COVID-19 has accelerated the district into fully accommodating virtual learning at all grade levels.
Teachers have prepared online lessons and assignments for inclement weather days when needing to pivot to a virtual learning model. Students in grades K-2nd will utilize SeeSaw, students in grades 3rd-12th will utilize Google Classroom, and students in 4K will utilize the Choice Board method (students should have received one that is good for up to five days). On the morning of a ‘Snow Day’, please check for an email or message in SeeSaw or Google Classroom from your child’s teacher for the virtual day classroom instructions. Teachers will be available online during the course of the virtual day.
Please note: If your child is in the 100% Virtual Learning model, their day will go on as normally planned.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s school or teacher.

The cold weather season is nearly here and we have noticed some children coming to school without the proper attire. All students are required to go outside for recess unless they have a doctor’s excuse requesting the student remain indoors. Once the snow begins to fly, students will need to have boots, snow pants, and mittens if they want to play in the snow. If you need assistance in obtaining appropriate winter gear for your child/ren, please contact Mr. Bierman at (608) 963-5278 or Mrs. Mathews at (608) 768-8934.
