Teaching the whole child is central to what we do in Reedsburg. To live that mission, teaching character and leadership skills is vital for each child’s journey towards adolescence. All staff play a role in making this possible. Your child will receive explicit instruction on how to behave via our Behavior Passports. All those behaviors exhibit our 3 R’s: Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience. Students who display these behaviors consistently earn Compliment Cards which reinforce these behaviors and can earn them prizes from our weekly drawings schoolwide. Mastery of these skills lays a foundation for success in all walks of life.
Our school counselor, Ms. Bindl, teaches a class called Life Skills. In this curriculum, students learn how to self-regulate, make positive choices, create positive interpersonal relationships, and improve mental health. These lessons are echoed by the classroom teacher and incorporated into the classroom environment. While academics are always a primary focus, our staff understands that students only achieve their fullest potential when their basic needs of regulation and belonging are met first.
