The Student Council’s mission is to enhance school spirit and foster a positive atmosphere at Reedsburg Area High School, as well as provide leadership opportunities for members. Two of its main responsibilities are organizing Homecoming Week and Winter Carnival Week, but there are many other events and activities led by the council throughout the school year. The council meets weekly before school on Wednesdays in the LGI room at RAHS.
Student Council is student-led, with an executive board of officers elected by the general membership of the council. Membership in the council itself is open, and there are no monetary dues--see Mr. May until we have filled the position, to fill out a brief application and start attending meetings. Members gain leadership training from advisors and hands-on leadership opportunities in our school and community. RAHS Student Council members also regularly attend workshops and conferences sponsored by the Wisconsin Association of School Councils, including the state conference and competitions each spring.
