Optional Advanced Placement (AP) exams are offered in May to students taking AP courses. Many colleges and universities offer college credit for passing scores on AP exams. Students planning to take the AP exams in May should speak with their AP teachers and/or the RAHS Counseling Office for additional information; pre-registration and fees apply. Important RAHS AP Exam Dates to Remember
- Fall 2020:
- Tuesday, September 1, 2020: Ms. Imhoff emailed the hyperlink to a Google Classroom to RAHS students enrolled in AP classes. In this classroom, important announcements and reminders will be posted for all AP students throughout the school year. Here is the link: Google Classroom for AP Student/Parents.
- Early/Mid September: Students will create an online College Board account and join their AP class section during their AP classes at school.
- Week of October 5, 2020: AP teachers will distribute AP test registration forms to students at school; students will also receive information and hyperlinks via school email from RAHS Counseling Staff. Students have the option to take a College Board AP exam in May of 2021. The registration fee is $95 per exam without late fees. - October 30, 2020 at 3:15 p.m. is the RAHS AP test registration and fee payment deadline without late fees. Students wishing to take College Board AP exams in May must complete the test registration form and submit their test registration fee payment to the School Counseling Office by this date to avoid any late fees. The student must also create an online College Board account and join the appropriate AP class(es) by this date.
- Students who receive free and reduced-priced school meals may be eligible for AP exam fee waivers. Please contact the RSD Food Service department to determine if you are eligible for free and reduced-price school meals.
- There is a $40 late fee per test plus the $95 per test registration fee for registartions submitted after RAHS submits the initial test order to the College Board; fee waivers and refunds will not apply to late-order fees. Late order changes will be accepted at RAHS through March 5, 2021.
- If a student chooses not to take an exam after the test has been ordered, requests for a full refund must be submitted in writing to RAHS Counseling Staff; the request must be signed by a parent/guardian. If eligible, RAHS will issue refund payments after the AP test window has ended in late May or early June. Late fees are not refundable.
- Please contact Ms. Imhoff if you have any questions or concerns about paying for AP test fees prior to the RAHS AP test registration deadline.
- November/December 2020: College Board Bulletin for AP Students and Parents is typically accessible online and distributed to AP students by their AP teachers (bulletin includes a student checklist, information about getting ready for exam day, and the exam schedule).
- January 15, 2021: Students with disabilities must submit requests for testing accommodations to the College Board by this date.
- March 5, 2021 by 3:15 p.m.: RAHS Counseling will accept late test registration requests and payments until this date. An additional $40 per-test late fee applies; fee waivers and refunds do not apply to late fees.
- April 2021: Students registered to take AP exams will receive more information about test preparation, policies, times and locations of the exams at RAHS in May.
- May 3-14, 2021: College Board AP testing at RAHS (see schedule below).
- RAHS will only offer late testing to eligible students per the College Board’s Late-Testing Policies. Additional fees may apply. Students must speak to Ms. Abby Imhoff as soon as possible if they must consider late testing.

*The duration of each exam varies, though most are approximately 3-4 hours in length. Students should plan accordingly for transportation, lunch, jobs, and extracurricular activities. Students taking exams should not plan off-campus appointments during testing times.
**The exams at RAHS will typically be administered in the Large-Group Instruction (LGI) classroom; depending on the number of students taking exams, the locations may vary. Students who have been pre-approved for testing accommodations will be individually notified regarding the location and time of their examinations.
